Announcement: The passing of Nina Elisabeth Braarud Benum

Benum Norway AS announces with great sadness that our dear Nina Benum passed away peacefully Thursday the 20th of April 2023 after a period of illness.

Nina Benum was a pioneering woman in the audio industry in Scandinavia.

Nina started working at Siv. Ing. Benum AS (now Benum Norway AS) in the mid-70s where she quickly gained great respect from suppliers, customers and competitors.

Nina was a person with many skills and she had a lot of knowledge about different topics. From playing her grand piano, flying an airplane, how to transmit FM radio, cables, connectors, speakers, finance, microphones, shorthand writing to mention just a few things.

Nina and her husband Bjørn Benum built the company stone by stone and were early adopters of high-tech solutions in the Norwegian market. They were always eager to be in the forefront of the market.

As one of very few women in the industry, Nina was a role model.

For many years she was the CEO of Benum Norway AS and eventually moved on to work at the board of directors. In recent years Nina gradually scaled down the work to let the current management team take the companies safely into the future and carry on the proud legacy of Nina and Bjørn Benum.

Today the Benum group has offices in Oslo, Gothenburg and Stockholm. It is a well respected company and considered one of the giants in the audio and music industry in Scandinavia.

Nina showed great care for those of us who were lucky enough to work closely with her. She sent Christmas cards and presents to our children and made everyones well being her concern. 

Although we greatly miss Nina, we are grateful for all the good memories and the time we had together where, among many things, music, discussions, good conversations, development of Benum Norway AS, trips to trade shows, food and wine, visits to Switzerland and France were some of the important ingredients.

We warmly thank Nina for what she has meant to all of us.

The funeral service will take place in Ris Church, Oslo, on Tuesday May 2nd at 14.30.
